This month our program will feature Pam Wall. Pam and her husband, with their two children, took six years to sail around the world on their 40’ sailboat. Pam spoke at BWA about that adventure several years ago. This program tells you a different story.

After the family returned to Fort Lauderdale, she was asked to help create a program for women who wanted to learn to sail. The owners of Bitter End Yacht Club, a unique resort in the British Virgin Islands, invited her to be one of the instructors for Women on the Water or WOW as it came to be known.

Each woman who took part in WOW learned to sail single-handed on her sailboat. Pam will show and tell us about where women from all over the globe came to begin or to increase their sailing skills. This week was taught by women for women with sailing instruction that lasted for every voyage these women made.

History

The Broward Women’s Alliance Scholarship was created in 1997 to benefit women who need support to advance their professional goals through achieving a higher education degree.  Over the years, that purpose has not changed., but the status of the BWA has.  In 2019, we became a non-profit foundation.
