December 2014

Welcome

Dear BWAers;

I blinked and the holidays are here! The fall seemed to pass quickly, and thankfully, so did storm season! This time of year becomes hurried and rushed, filled with social engagement and shopping, meals with family and friends, and shopping, holiday trips, and shopping. (Obviously there’s a theme here…)

Thanks to Melissa Milroy and her colleagues at the Galleria, our December meeting will offer tips for you to help you zero in on some terrific ideas for your holiday shopping. We are also hosting a Pick-A-Prize raffle as a fund raiser for our scholarship fund. We need members interested in donating prizes, and members interested in buying them. Great fun for everyone- and funds for deserving young women interested in pursuing their education. Thanks to Lorna Brown-Burton for stepping in to oversee the fun.

The week before our December meeting, we are holding a Holiday reception at the Historic Fort Lauderdale Village. I hope you are able to join us on December 3 to bring in the holiday cheer with your BWA sisters. Please RSVP by December 1. Thanks, to Connie Loewenthal, Catalina Avalos, Hillary Gurman and of course Lenore Nolan Ryan for their help in planning the event.

We will be collecting gift cards for the teenagers living in the Salvation Army’s shelter at both events, so please remember to bring those as well.

And, before I sign off, thanks for a terrific first half of the year. Many of you have reached out and shared wonderful feedback about our meetings thus far. Hillary Gurman and others on the board have done a terrific job at making these meetings memorable. And the second half of the year promises to be just as great.

Happy holidays to one and all. I wish for you the best of what you wish for yourself!

Holiday Hugs, Merrie
